I went to the public library this evening - this is one of my summer treats; it is four blocks away and blissfully air-conditioned. And on the way back, I saw this:

I miss the library days. I haven't actually taken a book out of a library in...probably 30 years. When I was a young'un, I would spend hours picking out whatever five books were going to keep me company that week or so. The smell of the books, the quiet cool of the library, the anticipation of all those adventures--sigh.

I need to go to the library again.

But where do you get your books if you don't go to the library? Do you just buy them all?

I do. Most of what I read is book-club chosen, and our library is unfortunately understocked.

The rest of what I read is usually in manuscript form--lots of slush and editing.
