Penpal, alas--or maybe not "alas," but--seems destined to be a self-published novel, as agents are not interested in it. So yeah, I will publish it myself, which won't do much for my reputation, but who cares? I will have fun creating the book (and a website to go with it) and putting it out in both ebook and paper formats. And then I will try to judiciously market it, and give away copies, and hope that, one copy at a time, it finds readers, who like it and tell other readers, and then others--so that eventually some of the (I think many) people who might enjoy it will be able to find it.
The book itself will be like a message in a bottle, so that's kind of cool.
