What I Just Finished Reading

Heart of Darkness, but I have a post coming up about that. Also Michael Morpurgo An Elephant in the Garden, because I was looking at Jaclyn Moriarty books and my eye caught on the “elephant” title a few inches down the shelf. Yay elephants! But it was pretty mediocre, honestly.

What I’m Reading Now

Jane Austen’s Sanditon - the version completed by Marie Dobbs. Now that I’ve realized how very early the Austen portion of that book cuts off, I am very curious to see how the LBD people end up adapting it. Are they going to follow one of the novelizations, or spin their own story entirely off Austen’s beginning? (And if they take it in a different direction than this completion does, will I be unreasonably cranky?)

What I’m Reading Next

Gail Carson Levine’s A Tale of Two Castles. None of her books have lived up to Ella Enchanted for me, but I live in hope that someday the lightning will strike again. I always think it’s rather sad when someone’s first book is their best.

The version of Sandition I have is just included in a volume of Austen's unfinished works and early works. So I will have no idea how any ending went, lol.

Well, if you ever want to read a completion, I found the Marie Dobbs version (the author is listed on the cover of mine as Jane Austen and 'another lady') most satisfactory.
