I love Jack's ruthlessness, expressed through (almost) sex. He *is* getting off on it - shades of Jack the con man, Jack the torturer. I love seeing the darker side of Jack.
Is it a test of what Ianto will do to avoid ret-con, a test of willingness to obey orders, or a test of loyalty, or a test of submission? (You don't have to answer that -- I'm just thinking out loud). Jack's one of those people, I think, who really feels he knows a person better once he's been physically intimate with them, so perhaps it's Jack attempting to know if he can trust Ianto again.
