Groundhogs!

WE SAW A GROUNDHOG <3 <3 <3. It looked like a dwarf bear with an oversize tail and an adorable snuffly nose.
Also I introduced Slavena (my college roommate) and Emma (my high school friend), and we all got along like a HOUSE ON FIRE. We spent the evening discussing Obernewtyn (we want the last book!) and Sabriel (MOVIE VERSION YES PLEASE) and Austen (they do not like Mansfield Park, which makes me sadface), and many many other things. and we all came out of it with a list of books we MUST MUST read.
In fact I borrowed a stack of books from Emma. Stella Gibbons' Nightingale Wood! She wrote Cold Comfort Farm, and Nightingale Wood is apparently even better.
Also, Emma and Slavena wrote little stars all around Avatar: The Last Airbender on my list. I...guess I will be watching that soon?

Date: 2012-08-08 01:52 am (UTC)ATLA is seriously one of the best pieces of visual media I've ever seen. It's beautiful, it's well-written, the characters are great, the world is intriguing and well-realized, the story arcs are solid, and there are very, very few false notes. Like, staggeringly few. It is as close to perfect as any TV show I've ever seen, I think.
Also it has one of my most bulletproof canon het couples of all time and space. I just want to draw sparkly hearts around the whole show.
(Sadly, I cannot say the same for Legend of Korra, which I had high hopes for. Instead of being written and directed by a large and diverse team, it was pretty much a four-person show, and I think that hurt it a lot. It still had some good elements, but I was kind of disappointed.)

A:TLA is delightful and awesome! Sally convinced me to watch it, and as usual, she was right!
