Book Review: The Flight of the Falcon

Daphne Du Maurier’s The Flight of the Falcon suffers from a fatal defect in a would-be thriller: at every point in the plot, I was a step ahead of the characters, and sometimes five or ten.

I’ve now read four Daphne Du Maurier books, two of which I’ve adored (Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel and two of which I’ve found decidedly mediocre: The Flight of the Falcon and Jamaica Inn. It may be time to trim back my Du Maurier reading plans to just the books that come recommended.
