Treasure Planet
Jun. 3rd, 2021 02:57 pmIt’s not that there’s anything wrong with Treasure Planet, but every time I watch it, I end up thinking, “I could have spent that time watching Muppet Treasure Island.”
I mean, true, Treasure Planet does feature Emma Thompson as Captain Amelia Smollett. And the animation is lovely, particularly the space ships that look like Napoleonic battleships and the vastness of space itself. but at the end of the day, it can’t really compete with muppets, and songs (Disney took a turn away from song in the early 2000s and personally I feel this was a big mistake), and Tim Curry as Long John Silver.
