August Writing & September Writing Goals
Sep. 1st, 2019 02:13 pmAugust is over! September has arrived! Which means it is time to consider my progress on my writing goals!
At the beginning of August I thought maybe it was premature to make “finish Honeytrap” a goal, and indeed I did not do so, but I did finish a draft of part one… which is ~73,000 words… but parts two and three will be much shorter, and I’ve already got a good deal written on those (total word count right now is 93,000), so I think finishing a rough draft by the end of September is a realistic goal.
Hypothetically, it would be nice to knock the Goblin Market story in shape in time to post it in October, or possibly to decide that the draft is an unsalvageable mess and cast it into the wastes, but let’s be real, I’m probably not going to work on anything else until Honeytrap is done.
I have decided - assuming I ever finish the story - that the title will be “Come and Kiss Me,” because “Goblin Market” is too Christina Rosetti, “Goblin Woods” doesn’t make it clear what the story is about, and “Goblin Pulp and Goblin Dew” makes it sound like it’s going to be gory.
And if this particular story doesn’t pan out, I’m saving “Come and Kiss Me” for a future story, hopefully with Goblin-Market-ish overtones, although possibly not an actual retelling. It just seems like a good title.
