New Kindle!
Sep. 2nd, 2018 04:27 pmThe Briarley royalties that came through at the end of August were amply sufficient to pay for a new Kindle to replace the ones the purse thieves stole: indeed, a new Kindle Paperwhite and a beautiful new Kindle case from Etsy, with a lovely stained glass pattern.
The case hasn't arrived yet, but the Kindle got here on Friday, which was odd because I only paid for regular shipping, but possibly this is Amazon's way of trying to sucker me into Prime, by showing me how nice fast shipping is? Eh.
Anyway, the Kindle is here and I have been happily arranging my books! (
asakiyume, I read The Secret of Saturday Cove. A letter is winging its way toward you as we speak.) And also less happily contemplating the fact that there seems to be no way to banish titles from the Kindle: you can take the file off the Kindle, but the title itself sticks around unless you delete the book entirely, in which case you can't get it back in case you do decide you want it again. It's so untidy.
Otherwise, I'm socking the rest of my royalties away for... well, I'm not sure yet. A hot air balloon ride is still on the table, if I can find someone who will go with me so I don't need to chat with the balloonist. Or maybe a trip? I've always wanted to go to France or Japan... but it might take quite a while to save up enough for either of those... so maybe it's better to start with the more modest hot air ballooning goal and work up from there as I put out more books and hopefully make more money.
