Caldecott Monday will be Caldecott Tuesday this week, because I did not plan ahead and therefore went to the library to collect the next book today (Paul O. Zelinsky's Rapunzel, which from the cover looks like it is going to be beautiful) - except today is Columbus Day and so the library was closed.
(Actually the sign on the door said the library was closed "for staff development," which I think means "Columbus Day is a federal holiday so we've gotta be closed, but we don't like that dude.")
Phooey.
In other news, I made bean soup. It was all right, but it needs more pizzazz. Next time I'm thinking I'll start off by cooking some bacon, and saute the onions & garlic in that before adding the beans, and then sprinkle the bacon on top at the end... Beans are always improved by pork.
