Psych, season 6
Apr. 22nd, 2014 06:03 amI have been watching Psych again! This is something that I do periodically. I’m coming near the end of the episodes on Netflix Instant and hoping they’ll put season 7 up soon, because I need my Psych fix!.
I just watched the horror movie homage in season six, the one where Lassiter goes all The Shining and attempts to kill Gus with a sword (because Lassiter just happens to have a sword hanging on his apartment wall, you know, like you do). I thought it was way more effective than the earlier slasher movie homage - effective in the sense that I really enjoyed it, because it wasn’t very scary. Obviously Lassiter is not going to get away with killing Gus; the show would collapse without Gus to anchor Shawn’s ridiculousness.
I did wish there was a bit more about the end about how this would affect Gus and Lassiter’s working relationship (I don’t know about Gus, but I wouldn’t want to be in the same room as Lassie again). But at least Lassiter apologized for his drug-addled murder attempt. Lassiter apologizing! Now that’s something I thought I would never see.
I like that the show is going ahead with his romance with his not-a-vampire girlfriend in jail. There’s something sublimely beautiful about law-and-order Lassiter falling for a jailbird, and they’re just so perfect for each other.
I’m still not onboard with Shawn and Juliet’s romance, which is unfortunate because by this point in the show they’re actually dating and everything. He just seems too immature and too dishonest for her - like, Shawn stole Gus’s credit card in order to pay for a fancy spa weekend with Juliet. Juliet would so dump him if she knew.
But that’s the thing, she doesn’t know. She doesn’t know about the stolen credit card, she doesn’t know he’s lying about being psychic, she doesn’t know that he just lies, lies, lies his head off in an entertaining manner whenever it suits him. I’m hoping that eventually Juliet will learn about some of Shawn’s lies and their relationship will explode, preferably before they get engaged or married or anything like that.
Maybe that will be the season seven arc! she says hopefully, although without any real hope that this will happen. The writers have been gunning for Shawn/Juliet since day one and probably aren’t going to give it up even though they don’t quite seem to know what to do with it.
