motetus: tell me about your most favourite place in the world. Photos are optional but encouraged!
The true but totally boring answer to this question is “my parents’ house,” which I still refer to as “home” in my mind if not to other people, who might confusedly believe that I meant my own apartment where I actually live. I like being surrounded by people I love and books I have had since childhood, and watching the bubble lights on the Christmas tree.
I don’t have any photos because it is, architecturally speaking, pretty dull. It did used to have green siding, though! Actually, my parents have been working for nigh on three decades to take out all the quirky elements. Originally the front hall had shiny silver wallpaper, and a giant cast iron chandelier hung in the dining room. But the front room has two walls of built-in bookshelves, so they bought it anyway.

Also,
motetus, LJ tells me it is your birthday! Happy birthday!
Sadly I only noticed this approximately twenty minutes ago, so I do not have a present for you. Would you like a ficlet?
