I'm back at school. We drove here yesterday, starting so early that the fog was thick and dark and blue, and made even the dead bare cornfields and the blocky subdivision houses beautiful.
I paid, if not an arm and a leg, at very least a kidney for my textbooks (and I haven't even bought them all yet). I also bought a new calendar so I could add dramatic cloud pictures to my wall, which is already top-heavy with hummingbirds, auroras, and an enormous Audrey Hepburn, and now I am sitting on my bed admiring my walls and the view from my window. Main Hall Green is beginning to look like a Van Gogh painting: heavy gold lamplight and dark blue snow and sky.
I was homesick last night, and I will be again, but for now - it's good to be back.
