Farewell, McIntosh

A time of mourning has come upon us: that tragic time when McIntosh apples, the most delicious apples in the world, disappear from their brief sojourn on our grocery shelves. Fragrant, tart and sweet, tender but never mushy; farewell, O apple of my eye!

On the bright side, the groceries are suddenly stocked with pomegranates.
