Via [livejournal.com profile] silksieve and [livejournal.com profile] entwashian and possibly some other people, as this is all over my flist.

In honor of All Hallow's Eve, I'm inviting trick-or-treaters to my 'door.' Comment "trick-or-treat" to this post and...well, you know the drill. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy (pics of fave actors or pairings, one sentence fics, graphics, a few words why I'm glad to have you on my flist, etc. etc.). The more "houses" to visit the more fun it'll be, so go ahead, open your journal and help spread the fun.

You were my first LJ friend, and the first person to comment on my very first Torchwood story! (And, as if that weren't enough, you were the first LJ person I met in real life, too!) My conversations with you were the impetus for a number of my Torchwood stories after that - in particular, Five Reasons Captain Jack Harkness Doesn't Tell People He's Immortal (http://osprey-archer.livejournal.com/25120.html) would never been written without you.

And even though we've both drifted away from Torchwood, you've stuck around and sometimes we have lovely conversations about books. You're a good friend.

(And if you'd like a Torchwood ficlet, I will totally try to write you one just for the occasion. Got any prompts?)

I still love Torchwood, but in the Star Wars way, you know? And in the way that I may hate RTD a little.

I'd love a ficcy! Give me some Owen, preferably season one...basically, before he was dead (the first time). Man, I miss Owen.

I bet you thought I had forgotten all about this... but no! It is merely that the itty bitty ficlet grew. And grew. And became an actual fic, albeit a rather short one.

Can I email it to you to beta? I'm thinking about posting it as a story in its own right.

Oh, and, I totally get loving Torchwood in a Star Wars way. I kind of pretend that the parts where they KILL EVERYONE don't exist. The brutal and totally unnecessary deaths of Owen and Tosh? The later seasons? NEVER HAPPENED.

It's true! When Torchwood was good/fun it was amazing...and then sometimes they just killed everyone because RTD hates us.

I read an article several years ago that basically said that Star Wars fans hate Star Wars. It went into detail about how Star Wars fans hate the comics, the cartoons, the books, the figures, everything. They hate the movies--both old and newer. Essentially, Star Wars fans love Star Wars for what it could have been rather than what it was.

Also, I will totally be the first to read a TW story for you.

I sent you the story. Or at least I sent it to the email I have for you, which is three years old, so I hope it still works.

And yes - loving Torchwood for what it could have been rather than what it was is an excellent way to put it. SO MUCH POTENTIAL. SO FLAGRANTLY WASTED.

TRICK OR TREAT!

From: [identity profile] osprey-archer.livejournal.com
I wrote you a treat in my very first Yuletide and friended you soon after because your journal was so full of awesome. And it continues to be full of awesome! I've gotten a lot of new TV shows out of it too. (State of Georgia, fuck yeah! I have an internet connection this weekend so I get to watch more episodes!)

And just generally, your posts almost always brighten my day. I love that you're so enthusiastic about the shows and actors you like - the way you highlight *Karl*'s name never fails to make me grin.

Also, if you'll give me a prompt I'll write you a ficlet.

I'll work on it! But in the meantime, have this Psych ficlet.

Costume Party

"Trick or treat!" said Spencer, knocking on the dressing room doorframe. Without waiting for an answer - why was Lassiter even surprised by Spencer's lack of manners? - he thrust back the dressing room curtain.

Lassiter almost dived behind the mirror, but such a feeble attempt at hiding would only destroy the last shreds of his dignity. He straightened instead, both hands clenched around his shepherd's crook, and glowered at the interloper.

It was Spencer, of course. "Let's face it, Lassy," he said, leaning against the doorframe. "You're never going to look this dashing again. Unless you let me pick out all your clothes from now on."

Lassiter shoved his lace-edged bonnet back so he could glare at Spencer properly. "Little Bo Peep? You set me up to be Little Bo Peep?" he roared, and slammed his crook against the floor.

"You put on the costume," Spencer said.

"You took my clothes! And then you switched the costume!" Lassiter sputtered.

Spencer smirked his horrible smirk. "If you'll excuse me," he said. "I have a Batman costume to put on. I offered to be Robin this year but Gus always insists - "

Lassiter hooked his crook around Spencer's neck and yanked him across the room. The ruffled peak of his bonnet poked Spencer in the eye."I'm not done with you yet, Spencer," he said. "When I tell the Chief that you've been wasting departmental money on - "

" - the most awesome Halloween party ever," Spencer said. Lassiter's eyes bulged like a toad's. "Now Lassy," Spencer began, perhaps realizing he'd gone too far; but Lassiter yanked Spencer forward with the crook, and had the satisfaction of seeing Spencer choke.

"Just once," he said, "just once I'm going to give you a piece of my mind without any interruptions. You - "

Spencer kissed Lassiter's nose.

Lassiter dropped his shepherd's crook and scrubbed his nose with his scratchy lace cuffs. Spencer backed away, shepherd's crook in hand. "Give me my crook," Lassiter said dangerously. Spencer grinned and darted from the dressing room.

Lassiter hurtled after him, only to trip on his lacy pantaloons and sprawl full-length on the floor. Spencer danced just out of his reach, spinning the shepherd's crook like a baton. "Come and get it, Lassy," he said.

But before Lassiter could get up, a caped figure leaped from behind the clothes rack and snatched the crook from Spencer's hands. "Here," Batman whispered laryngitically, holding the crook out to Lassiter. Lassiter hauled himself to his feet.

Spencer stared. "You put on my Batman costume!"

Gus dumped the green and crimson Robin suit in Spencer's arms and swooped away. His cape caught on a hat rack. Spencer, staring disconsolately at the Robin costume, didn't notice.

Lassiter smiled. "Happy Halloween," he told Spencer, and walked off whistling. He unhooked Batman's cape with his crook, tipped his bonnet at a staring pair of tiny girls, and went off to find O'Hara.

I just want to say that I haven't forgotten about it, but I wanted to watch the last few State of Georgia episodes before I wrote it and Unforeseen Circumstances have thus far prevented me.
