The Hero's Return

I'm back from NZ, and very very tired! There's that tremendous flight across the Pacific, and then I got stuck in LA because my plane was late - three hours late - but whatevs, man, I was all stoic acceptance, on account of being completely exhausted. Plane's late? Plane's canceled? The zombie apocalypse has come to LA? I've just flown over the Pacific, there's nothing the zombies can do to me.

But at last! After much suffering and mechanical difficulties the plane took me to Chicago, where I stayed overnight, in a gentle haze of confusion about whether I was perhaps in Indianapolis (and why had Indy got such an unnecessarily large airport) or possibly still in LA. Oh, lack of sleep, you are my drug of choice.

At any rate I got to the proper gate this morning and am now safely ensconced in my dorm, where I will be sleeping as soon as my body recalls that it is deeply, deeply tired.

Also, my stomach seems to have forgotten how to feel hungry. I find this disturbing.

I can tell right now: jet lag is going to make the first day of classes totally awesome.

I had my first geology class today. We have a field trip EVERY WEEK!!!!
