We did consider this solution, but (a) mattresses are difficult to transport and (b) we have different tastes in the squishiness levels of mattresses.
If they are spies, they need to work on their cover! They are arousing suspicion with their never-being-here. They need to get a dog and start taking it for walks and then no one will ever suspect them of anything.
