I regret to inform you that I have gone mad with list-making power and made a TV shows list (here), which I must share with the caveat that in many cases I have not, in fact, watched the complete show. There are some where I saw a couple of seasons and dropped out (Agents of SHIELD, Downton Abbey) and some where I saw a smattering of episodes but honestly God alone knows which ones (Reading Rainbow, Double Dare). Also surprisingly more anime than I'd realized I've watched.

Now contemplating making a list of songs, but possibly I should cut myself off at the pass before I really go down the niche list rabbit hole. Imagine the possibilities, though. 100 favorite picture books! 100 favorite children's books! 100 favorite films directed by women!

I am not on Spotify so alas someone else would have to Spotify playlist my list if I make it! We'll see if I feel the listmaking urge tomorrow.

26/100, including any I had watched at least 1 whole series/season of, but not those (2) of which I had only watched an episode or two. I beat the average! \o/ (Obv. the whole point of this exercise, lol.)

That is pretty much the method I used to compile the list ("cannot include NCIS because I watched ONE episode ONE time... but I watched a whole two series of Torchwood so that's fine") so that seems very fair and reasonable.

Yes, clearly the point is the beat the average! And also the sheer joy of ticky boxes.

In fairness, I think with shows like Double Dare, once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Yeah, something like The Joy of Painting, once you've watched him paint one mountain lake scene you've pretty much grasped the whole concept of the show. Which is why it's such a comforting show to watch! But definitely not something that rewards the completist impulse.

I've had to cut myself off from making lists because by the time found myself thinking "well if I made a third list of influential/favorite books I'll definitely get it right this time!!" I realized that way madness lies.

Making and remaking the same list IS the path of madness, but surely if I'm making NEW lists it's fine?? Maybe not. Maybe I should cut myself off after this one.

Not to send you down the rabbit hole, but as someone who now has strong opinions about picture books, I would enjoy a list of those!

We have watched 34 of [some of] the same television shows! I was clicking anxiously through and finally breathed a sigh of relief when I saw A Spy Among Friends at the end. Vitally important.

(I did not know you'd seen Underground, though! What a devastating banger of a show.)

Of course I had to include A Spy Among Friends! Simply saving the best for last, that's all.

The first season of Underground in particular was fantastic. The second season had that problem that TV shows often have if they have a really tightly plotted first season, where some of the characters no longer really fit into the continuing story but the actors have a contract so you gotta try to get them in anyway.

SAME BOAT. Those clicky boxes are so damn addictive.

I got 20, scoring myself fairly generously - I rarely watch a tv series the whole way through, but anything I’ve seen enough of to remember the characters’ names got a tick. (Admittedly, most of my viewing of Parks and Rec has been via tumblr gifsets and YouTube “funniest moments” compilations, but I DID watch at least the first few episodes the whole way through, so I’ve decided that counts.)

Who am I to resist the call of a clicky box? Or the call of list-making? I went ahead and made the picture book list because of course I did.

I don't think I could have gotten to a hundred TV shows if I had limited myself to shows where I'd actually seen the whole show. Some shows are just so long! And then it so often happens that they go off after a couple of seasons! (Although let's be real, Agents of SHIELD was never exactly on to begin with, and that certainly didn't stop me from devouring the first two seasons.) Much better equipped to deal with miniseries tbh.
