100 movies

I enjoyed doing the 100 books list so much (and doing everyone else's, too) that I decided to do one for movies, as well. Here it is!

32/100! I've been surprised at how many I've been getting on people's movie lists, because when thinking about making one myself I'm like, have I ever seen a movie in my life??

Real talk, I had to go all the way back through my movie posts on DW to reach 100 on this list. I stand behind my choices! These are all good movies that I would recommend to someone else! Except maybe Biggles which is not good per se but certainly An Experience. But if I had to rely on just my brain this list would have taken a month.

13, not much better than i was with books haha. SO many classic movies I haven’t gotten around to watching yet. I also keep meaning to watch Frances Ha, mainly because Adam Driver, but movies are somehow so much harder to sit down to than a book.

I go through cycles with my ability to watch movies tbh. Sometimes I'm super into them and watch a ton, and sometimes (like now) I'm seeing barely any movies at all because, as you say, it's so much harder than sitting down with a book. You can pick a book up and put a book down, and I guess technically you can pause a movie, but it just feels like more of a time commitment.

I'm way better at watching movies when I'm watching with someone, either a friend or in a theater or something.

Some of these I watched either with you or because of you--Skate Kitchen, Kamikaze Girls, Sophie Scholl, Wadjda. All excellent films.

Escape to Witch Mountain! Muppet Treasure Island! The Wizard of Oz! You remembered a bunch I forgot to include in my list. 🙈 And I deeply respect your Jimmy Stewart love.

Edit: oh man, my 39 movies was good for #1! I haven't been #1 for anyone so far, haha.

Escape to Witch Mountain and Muppet Treasure Island were so formative. I should rewatch Escape to Witch Mountain sometime and see if it holds up.

Jimmy Stewart is so great. This reminds me it's been ages since I've seen one of his movies; time to watch another one perhaps?

I really still have seen actually not many films, although I have been working on it this last decade.

There are simply so many films... which is actually even more true of books now that I think about it, but films especially just seem overwhelming somehow.
