I definitely went into this expecting it to fall farther on the "hilarious romp" end of the spectrum than it does. It is hilarious and also a romp and yet also so bleak and tragic. Lampo is the worst! And I love him! And he is awful! And I wanted a better ending for him! But also what more fitting end for this story is there than "now Syracuse is about to be invaded, AGAIN, guess I'll just sit on the hillside and die"?
