Susan Cooper continues writing books to this very DAY! An author with a wide chronological range. But I've had similar experiences with for instance movie stars who are strongly associated with a certain era, where I learn that Doris Day, for instance, is having a birthday, and feel astonished that she didn't just evaporate at the end of the 1950s.
