To be fair I'm sure it would have a warping effect on me if my entire family called me Jarback all the time, but all the same. Perhaps find a new hobby to distract himself from feeling sorry for himself? Except he is traveling all the time and if that is not enough to distract him, then what will... In any case none of this is a good reason to say mean things about Emily's book.
Emily/Ilse is truly the strongest pairing in the book, but I do think it would be nice for Emily to have a partner who cares about (and will say nice things about!) her writing. Valancy Stirling to her John Foster.
