We finished The Librarians! I had mixed feelings about the show all the way through, but they did such a bang-up job on the last two episodes that I felt more disappointed than I expected that it was over.

I must admit that I was disappointed that Nicole turned out to be evil, simply because I loved the episode where Eve & Nicole teamed up so much and also because I thought the idea that maybe the Library isn’t a pure force for good had wonderful story possibilities… but I should have known that the showrunners loved the Library too much to ever really go there.

And if you put aside that disappointment, the last two episodes were great. I loved the nightmare rings - especially the twist that Eve was wearing one too, because it’s one of those wonderful twists where it’s SO OBVIOUS once they tell you but nonetheless completely surprising.

And then they all get tossed into a Brazil type dystopia (complete with ducts!!), which is a setting for which I have a soft spot, although as soon as it happened Julie and I looked at each other and were like, “Flynn’s going to reappear to save them, isn’t it?”

Because Flynn, a few episodes earlier, had disappeared YET AGAIN, and it made Eve cry, and once you’ve made Eve Baird cry there’s just no coming back from that, man. “Fuck Flynn,” we said, and settled in bitterly to watch him save the day.

So it was a little awkward in the next episode when it turned out that actually he hadn’t disappeared this time! He’d been kidnapped! So we forgave him slightly, although he’s still not good enough for Eve, because after all he did disappear so many times that when he did it again no one even thought there might have been foul play, because disappearing is just what he DOES, and that’s just not good boyfriend material.

Having said that, dystopian insane asylum!Flynn was probably the most likeable Flynn, like, ever, and I totally shipped him with discombobulated!Eve, which is the only time I have shipped them at all. You do you, you crazy kids!

And then they broke the dystopia! And I totally didn’t buy that a two minute conversation with Flynn totally changed Nicole’s life trajectory from good to evil, but they were running out of time at that point, so okay I guess.

AND THEN IT ENDS WITH THE WHOLE GANG TOGETHER AND JENKINS WAS BACK AND IMMORTAL AGAIN AND HAPPINESS ALL AROUND. Jenkins’ return made me so happy that I forgave them for killing him in the first place because in the end the pain was worth it, I GUESS.

I also just love the idea of Jenkins becoming a dungeon master for a D&D game because really. He would be the BEST dungeon master. Except I guess the ending means that never happened, because it basically erases the whole season… but maybe Jeff could still find the evil book and switch places with Jenkins and Jenkins could meet the D&D crowd again, only if he’s still immortal he might not be interested in bonding with them that time around. Hmm.

I feel that keeping Jenkins immortal has to take precedence over Dungeon Master Jenkins, though it pains me to say it. We lived in a world without Jenkins for two whole episodes and it was a terrible place.

The Librarians is all good fun, but you definitely can't think about it too hard, lol. But everything also usually turns out exactly okay, and it's nice to have a show like that.

LOL< yes. Although I do think that the reversal of everything means that some of the S4 adventures must be still to happen, except hopefully without mortal Jenkins and he can still be a Dungeon Master. He'll feel an inexplicable urge to do so that he cannot explain because time shenanigans.

(And, ha, I remember thinking Flynn'd have to have a very good excuse to get out of that one. Kidnapping actually was.)

Jenkins is the best, though. I miss it too; it was nonsense but very entertaining fun nonsense with librarians and Jenkins.

Maybe Jeff uses the book to switch places with one of the Librarians rather than Jenkins, but Jenkins is the one who figures it out first and for some reason the Librarians can't investigate so he has to and THAT'S how he ends up becoming a Dungeon Master.

That would probably work!
