Sutcliff Swap is open! I got a lovely story from bunn, Audrsaga (it even has a Viking title!), about Aud's journey to Iceland. I love this take on Aud's character: of course she had youthful dreams of leading expeditions as a shield maiden, but even though those dreams are only coming true now that she's a grandmother and a queen, she can still enjoy them even though they aren't quite what she envisioned.

I love all the description of the Viking ship, with its steering oar on the side, too. And there's a driftwood fire with blue flames! I've always thought driftwood fires sounded like just the coolest thing.

Isn't it a great portrait? I love the sort of ambiguous quality to the smile. Is it happy? Mischievous? Is it even exactly a smile? It contains multitudes, like Honoria.
