It's been a long, hard winter, but during the intermittent snow melts, I've taken a few walks and a few more photographs.

The stream winds through the golden grass...

And a couple of photos of the Well House, an odd little stone gazebo on the edge of the woods. In the late afternoon - and, I imagine, at dawn - the view seems enchanted, as if the arched windows are a gateway into fairyland.

Wow, that really does look like the gateway to fairyland! The light in the stained glass (and dare I say it: how wonderful that no one has broken that glass).

It reminds me very much of something in one of Susanna Clarke's short stories about Faerie.

That little creek looks like just the sort near where I grew up. We'd slide on them and sometimes I'd take my ice skates down and skate on them, if they froze.

My elementary school had a wooden gazebo at the edge of the playground, which we used a gateway between worlds. The Well House reminds me of it, although really only the shape is similar.

Was it hard to skate on a creek that small? There's not much space to maneuver.

Generally it would flood and freeze, which gave you a little more room, but yeah--it was pretty limited :-P
