A link for you: The Most Amazing Up-Close Snail Photos You'll Ever See.

Actually, probably the only up-close snail photos you'll ever see, because how often do people say "Hey snail, time for your close up!"

This is clearly a result of silly anti-snail prejudice, because as these photos show, snails are adorable. I particularly like the shot of the snail perched precariously on the end of a twig, peering at a bubble; and of course the snails sitting atop mushrooms are total winners.

...surprisingly often, in my circle of invertebrate-loving macrophotographers, actually. I get REALLY EXCITED about snails, because unlike insects they cannot fucking fly away right when you've got focus.

Those are great photos, though.

THEY HAVE EYESTALKS. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THEM? THAT IS SO COOL!

OMG. Hold on tight, bubble-loving snail! You are so beautiful, I do not want you to fall off your twig and drown!

I think Snail With the Orange Floating Flower is my favorite although xe also has an element of peril about xim.

I *love* these photos--I saw them over on tumblr. Taken together, they seem to tell some story. The snails seem so expressive and the colors are so bright!

I know! Both those snails look like they're in imminent danger of falling into the water. But snails are sticky, right? Clearly something is holding them to those precarious perches.

Yes! They're happy snail pictures. I like the ones with two snails, too, where it looks like they're communing.

Snail photos seem to have a lot of advantages over butterfly photos. The adorable little creatures will SIT STILL and BEHAVE!

Snails are frustratingly shiny and 3D, though, which can be challenging for focus and depth of field. But at least you have time to experiment with settings!

Those are cute pictures indeed! Somehow snails are adorable and slugs gross me out; it's completely illogical...

Slugs are pretty horrible. I think the lack of shell makes their slimy bodies seem too slimy? Whereas with snails, the contrast with the shell makes them seem less slimy.

Something like that! Snails have a reassuring shape because of the shell, where slugs are just SQUISHY EVERYWHERE.
