I've been meaning to post, but unfortunately I have nothing to post about. My life looks something like this:
1. Read for class. Crisis in late-nineteenth/early-twentieth century white masculinity.
2. Grade papers.
3. Attend class.
4. Read more for class. The men are still in crisis. "We've conquered some ridiculous percentage of the globe," they cry. "But IS IT ENOUGH? Are we truly manly and dominant and virile???"
5. Grade papers.
6. Grade more papers. Realize they are copulating in the night. Grading is infinite.
7. Read more. White men of the late nineteenth century! You are the harriers of the world! What more can you possibly want?
Everything. Obviously. Insatiability is the keystone of the imperialist project: of course we have to conquer more places! They're there, aren't they? What else do you think they're for?
