And I am working on fics for hc_bingo. Fics to finish this week, because after that I have a big paper to write. These are mostly in various stages of doneness, so if anyone wants to beta...
1. Eot9, on the theme of orphans - Marcus and Cottia talk about Marcus's mother. It struck me that there's a parallel between Marcus's childhood (he's sent to live with relatives who don't understand him and fail to acculturate him to their values) and Cottia's (ditto, though she's not technically orphaned). This one's done, though I'm still poking at it a bit.
2. Eot9, Esca/Marcus, about Esca's complex about his clipped ear. This story may not have Cottia at all; I may go into withdrawal.
3. Hetalia, about Russia, naturally, on the theme of "Stockholm Syndrome." This one is almost done. It's set at the Yalta Conference and involves England being all "You know your boss is actually supposed to like you, right, Russia?" to which Russia replies "STFU Stalin totally loves me, which is why he punishes me, because that is how you express love, oh God maybe you are right."
After World War II Stalin never did manage to make the USSR quite as terrorific as it had been in the thirties, though he was ramping up to it again when he died.
4. Downton Abbey, Sybil/Branson. That story I was talking about where Sir Richard Carlisle bruises Branson's wrist? That is this story.
I still need fics for "head trauma" and "amnesia." Head trauma is almost too easy - it fits in, like, every fandom ever - but I'm still fretting about amnesia. Maybe Social Network? Eduardo gets amnesia and is all "Mark! Bestie! What has happened in the years I have forgotten?" and Mark is like "CLEARLY YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND. NOTHING HAS EVER COME BETWEEN US. LET US HANG OUT."
And Dustin or Chris is all "Voice of reason, Mark, you have to tell him that he hates you sometime, or he'll never forgive you when he gets his memory back."
Mark: "Ugh, it's like you want me to be mature and tell the truth rather than just passive-aggressively letting the chips fall where they may. I REFUSE." Possibly he'll get over this?
