When Dreams Come True...
Jun. 22nd, 2012 07:57 pmLinks! Two of them. First, a photos from Russia, of people releasing tens of hundreds of candle-powered paper balloons into the sky. So lovely - like a real-life version of the beautiful scene in Tangled. It reminds me of last summer, when my mother and I were in Turkey; after dinner we walked along pier by the Sea of Marmara, and saw dots of light drifting into the black evening: paper balloons, just like these.
Second, Travel across the Roman Empire in real time with ORBIS, which is like ancient Roman mapquest. If you're riding horses relay, you can zoom from Rome to Londinium in less than 10 days; whereas the journey will take twenty-five days for a fast military march, or 80 days driving a loaded ox cart...fascinating!
