Tangled Up in Blue
Jan. 8th, 2012 06:07 pmMy car was still in the shop last Monday when I had to return to Minnesota, so I drove my dad's car up. This weekend, he drove up to trade cars...and, of course, to take me out to dinner.
We went to Tangled Up in Blue, a splendidly atmospheric restaurant in Taylors Falls, a tiny town on the shore of the St. Croix River.
Towns on rivers always seem so much more alive to me than land-locked places - the river is a gateway to elsewhere.
(The sculpture behind our table there - you can see its foot in the first photo, behind the candle - portrays a beaked creature jamming on a guitar, and dances if you touch it.)
They had a flourless dark chocolate torte that looked amazing, but I got bananas Foster for dessert because I've never had it before. They flamed it right at the table, and the brown sugar and butter cooked into a splendid thick caramel sauce.
