Grim weather today: the clouds matte gray, and the air clammy and chill. We learned the Russian word for dreary: nepogozhii, "unweather." This is the weather that happens when the sky refuses even to try.

I put the finishing touches on next year's schedule this morning. Funny to think, this time next time I'll be a month from graduation (also known as THE END OF LIFE AS I KNOW IT. Not that I'm fretting or anything).
It's a pretty ace schedule. I'll have fulfilled all of my general education and major requirements by the end of winter term, so spring term I'll have Art of China and Japan, American Art, Intro to Drawing, and my own self-designed independent study: "Lying on the Lawn and Eating Jujubes." Because when else in my life am I going to have a chance to give loafing and bonbon consumption the serious scholarly attention that they deserve?

Now I'm imagining prescription-drug ads for the weather.
"Feeling grey? Can't lose those stratus clouds, but can't work yourself up to actual rain, either? Ask your doctor about meteorolican...."

Date: 2010-05-13 01:26 am (UTC)"But doctors are quacks!" the weather would cry.
It's hard to change the weather's mind. It's nearly four billion years old, and set in its ways.
