Today is my birthday! Happy birthday to me!

I didn’t bother to request my birthday off this year because… well, it’s not like I could go anywhere or do anything… but I DO have my very favorite ice cream in the freezer for when I get home, so that will be a little celebration at least.

Aw, happy birthday!

Mine's in a couple of weeks. I'm in a similar bind re: lack of celebration options, but I might risk a trip to IKEA to pick up a dressing table I've had my eye on so I have a place to keep the makeup I'm still learning how to use.

TBH at this point a trip to a store DOES feel like a celebration, or at least an Event. I feel like an old-timey farmer hitching up my wagon to go into town to lay in supplies for the winter.

Hah! That's a fair description. I've been less isolated lately—the recent research indicates quick grocery trips during off-peak hours are pretty safe, especially when people are masked, and Chicago has a governor's order in place requiring masks that (thankfully) most people are obeying/most stores are enforcing. So walking/biking to the store a few times a week has become part of my routine. But especially early on, when I was trying to only go once every few weeks, it definitely had that old-timey feel to it. And yeah, driving out to Schaumburg will definitely be an Event, even if it's just to zoom into the IKEA warehouse, grab the flatpack (hurrah for the location/stocking info all being online), and zoom back out. Maybe I'll go wild and get a Sonic drive-in milkshake on the way back!
