The Winnowing of the Books

I have come into possession of a pair of bookshelves, so I decided it was time to move my books from my parents' house down to my apartment. And, as I was going to have to get them all off the shelves and box them up anyway, I figured that I might as well sort them.

There were a lot of books.

What surprised me most was that I actually found quite a number that I haven't read. Now admittedly, some of these were children's books that my mother bought for us lo these many years ago and we simply never got around to reading them, but still. I now have an actual physical unread book pile!

It is a bit intimidating. I only transported some of the unread books to Indianapolis with me, as I figured that having the whole pile constantly under my eye might give me vapors.

I haven not yet managed to transfer all the books from my car into my room and thence onto the bookshelves, but once I do I will probably post pictures of that too. There's already a shelf and a half devoted to Isobelle Carmody. Why must she write such very long books?

That is a lot of books! I'm really wishing for the 'enhance.. enhance...' feature here because I definitely want to read all the spines, haha.

I definitely spot The Little Prince though. HA!

Hahaha, this is a problem. Whenever people post pictures of their bookshelves I am always a total creeper, peering in close to the picture to see if I can suss out any more titles.

But once I have the books all transferred onto the shelves, I will probably take more pictures, which may give you better book-spying opportunities.

Yep, that looks about like my room after I moved.

Books! Books everywhere!

So many books! :D I have an entire bookshelf only of unread books, which probably will eventually give me the vapors. I keep managing to get it lower, but then people buy me more for Christmas, or I see a fifty-cent used copy of a book I've been meaning to read and obviously I have to buy it, and...

And so it grows and grows.

Library book sales are so dangerous in this regard. The books are so cheap and there are so many of them, and also the money is going to the good cause of library stuff! So of course if I see a cheap copy of something that I've been meaning to read - or something that I read that one time and enjoyed - well, clearly the righteous thing to do is to buy it!
