Agents of SHIELD reaction post

Mike is back!

And we're finally going to learn why May is called the Cavalry. I AM EXCITE.

And... these are actually most of my thoughts about this episode, although I did like the bit where Fitz and Simmons pretended to be all on the outs with each other, but turned out to be in cahoots. CALLED IT.

Although I feel like if I called it, maybe someone in this super secret spy organization should have considered the possibility too. This is why you guys were infiltrated so thoroughly by Hydra, I am just saying. There's a critical lack of paranoia here.

But anyway. I'm glad Fitz finally got his buffalo mozzarella and proscuitto sandwich. I don't think I've felt so happy about a character getting to eat something since the end of the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie, when Barbossa finally got to eat his apple.

Also, the powers people have actually succeeded in making me feel sorry for Skye's dad. I didn't think this was possible, but c'mon, the guy has thrown himself against the wall so many times that he's left a mosaic of bloody handprints. They need to come up with a more humane way of dealing with him than just locking him up in a room full of stuff he can hurt himself with.

I think that's exactly why Fitz & Jemma did it that way, though. Jemma was able to "prove" her loyalty to SHIELDlite by kicking Fitz out, because if she had just been like, "Okay, I don't feel betrayed at all; let's work together!" they definitely would've been suspicious of her. We'll have to see how it unfolds over the next few episodes, but I also think it might give her a certain amount of plausible deniability? Like, if she hesitates about doing something for SHIELDlite, or is caught acting shifty or unlike herself, she can play it off as feeling guilty/conflicted about Fitz.

I hope Bobbi does feel suspicious of her, just so we can see Simmons' virtuoso acting turn as she sobs to Bobbi that of course she's happy to help, she just feels so terribly bad about the way things ended with Fitz... She's come along way since that time she couldn't come up with a lie when Sitwell caught her in a restricted area in season one!

Yeah! We've sort of had a brief callback to Bobbi-under-as-HYDRA telling Jemma that she needed to learn to lie better two episodes ago, when Jemma managed to -- tase? her with the pellet thingies, but a bigger one would be better -- especially since that aspect of Jemma's character has been building since S1, before Bobbi was in the picture, with the awkward Sitwell scene.

I just saw it! I can't tell you how happy I am about the triumphant return of Fitz's Sandwich of Love. (I was very upset when Ward threw the original Sandwich away D:)

I kind of hate the whole Real SHIELD plot, but I love Edward James Olmos being gruff and morally ambiguous, so it works out for the best.

They need to come up with a more humane way of dealing with him than just locking him up in a room full of stuff he can hurt himself with.

So true.

I was so annoyed with Ward about the sandwich. Yes, fine, Fitz probably shouldn't have brought along something that let off a scent so easy for dogs to follow, but AS HE DID I don't see why throwing it away was a better method of getting rid of it than letting him eat it.

Especially given that they apparently packed no other rations. What kind of planning was that, Ward? You're supposed to be such a hotshot, and you don't even think to bring a few protein bars??

My suspicion is that the powers people are hoping that Skye's dad will kill himself so they don't have to deal with him anymore. They seem awfully nice to Skye, but I worry that it's a front over questionably intentions.
