Shetland season 4

After I finished season 3 of Shetland I decided that I was going to stop watching the show, but then the library got season 4 and the flesh is weak and I watched it.

My original plan was a better plan. Season 4 of Shetland is a mess.

Shetland Again

Once I’d written a post complaining about it, I finished season 3 of Shetland yesterday - and to add insult to injury the solution to the mystery wasn’t even good. They’d set up a number of satisfying possible murderers: an organized crime boss, his shady lawyer, or a corrupt government muckety-mucks.

And did they go with any of those options? NO. Spoilers )

But no viewer could have suspected that ending! So at least the ending is a SURPRISE, which obviously is a more important attribute in a mystery than actually making sense or being satisfying.

Well, on the bright side, this nicely settles the question of whether to keep watching if there’s a fourth season.

Shetland

I am literally one episode from the end of Shetland, and part of me just wants to barrel right on through so that’s done & dusted - but in the penultimate episode they did a rape plot and I've lost all will to watch the last one.

Spoilers for Shetland, discussion of rape in media, etc. )

2017 TV Shows

One last round-up post for the new year, and then I think I’m caught up! (Or so I like to hope.) I have been disgracefully lax about posting about TV shows this year, which is too bad because I’ve watched a lot of really good television.

Brideshead Revisited, Gankutsuou, The Good Place, Grantchester, The Librarians, Parks and Rec, Shetland, Underground )

I also watched The Crown, but I ended up moving that one to a separate post because I went on about it so long. Watch this space!
