I think it's the book equivalent of clickbait, but you wonder if they ever stop to think that there might be consequences to misrepresenting the book like that! I remember reading one with a subtitle like "ancient wisdom of parenting" and inside the book the author patiently explained that these are actually parental techniques that many people around the world use today, at this very moment, often in highly technological societies much like America, so not really ancient at all!
