Hahaha, Jamake Highwater is one of the most vilified figures in (progressive) Star Trek fandom, second only to Rick Berman (for too many reasons to count, although certainly one of the most prominent was that he hired Highwater without apparently doing so much as a cursory check into his credentials). I had no idea he'd written a Newbery Honor book!
