Yes, it's a really interesting approach! It feels like this one story ought to break with the genre of the rest of the collection, but in fact it's very much of a piece with them. The main character of the Morgan's Raiders story keeps telling himself "this is battle," expecting a decisive break with everyday life, and that decisive break never quite arrives, perhaps in part because Morgan's Raiders pass the town by but also perhaps because everything is part of life. (He does manage to fall off a cliff in the darkness so he gets a war wound despite the lack of a battle.)
