She mentioned her grandmother in the afterword, but it sounded like she was inspired by the fact that her grandmother kept a diary, not perhaps the actual contents of the diary. A bit confusing!

I am very slowly working my way through Schlitz's work, so I will read it eventually... but there are a lot of things ahead of it on the list.
