They caught a unicorn and it was SO BEAUTIFUL and they killed it and dragged its head down to the courtyard and the horribly ugly wreck of the head annoyed their mother. They killed something so wonderful and achieved NOTHING.

There's probably an allegory here but it's too depressing to dig it out.
