The pigeon book really enriched the trip! It's so nice to pick up an interest in something that you can see literally everywhere.

"I am going to marry the gender-appropriate sibling of my best friend!" is a PEAK nineteenth century ending; I've seen it in both directions. That way the whole book can focus on what the author cares about (friendship) but fulfill the expectation that novels are supposed to end in marriage.
