You'd think that FotH would be fair warning that if you read Broster's Jacobite books you should be prepared to have your heart smashed into tiny little pieces, AND YET. Even on a reread I find myself drawn into that 'well maybe it could have been okay' place.

I adore all the encounters with Ewen and Aveling. Everything about the ring is just amazing <3
