I was prepared for Freckles to come from an immigrant family, fresh from Ireland, who were earnestly looking for work when they were struck down far from home, with no family near to look after the orphaned baby. Which I guess is more or less what his people are, except I expected the immigrant family to be, you know, peasants or something, not LITERAL NOBILITY.
