Maybe it's a matter of balance. In the first chapter she's thinking, "A human girlfriend could be kissing my neck as we ate pumpkin bread RIGHT NOW," but then we segue into memories of their time together and she's like "Nah actually we're good"... It's a gripe rather than a deep-seated discontentment with their relationship.
