aside from Five Red Herrings which I have been Warned Against

What seems to be the Don't Bother Reading It-ness of it? I know I read Five Red Herrings but I honestly don't remember anything about it, either good or bad. You're not the first person who I've heard either warning or being warned against reading it, though.
