Phelps' version of heaven is basically all the good things on earth with none of the downsides: you get to meet all your loved ones who have gone before, including your pets (animals don't got to Traditional Heaven because supposedly they don't have souls), and there's no pain, disease, death, or drudgery. People do get the chance to do the creative work they were prevented from doing in life, though: the heroine's aunt assures a musical girl whose family is too poor to buy her a piano that she'll get one in heaven.
