There's also a through-story in If on a Winter's Night a Traveler, in which you (the reader) (addressed in the second person) traipse about town trying to find a complete copy of a novel, any novel, and instead keep getting cut off at the first chapter every single time. It's a bit impressive how many ways he comes up with to cut off a book at the first chapter, but still frustrating.
