Yeah, I remember the description in Plutarch of Antony being hauled up to Cleopatra's boudoir on the outside of the tower? in a kind of basket/corset so his guts wouldn't fall out before he got there, which sounds undignified. I think Cleopatra got major props for being a woman and Foreign and yet Dying Nobly, tho.
