1930s Britain where people are never murdered is actually quite a bit like 1930s Britain where people are murdered all the time, except that the house parties continue to their bitter end rather than getting interrupted by murder. Also, occasionally the characters actually get to finish their tea rather than being dragged away to look for clues.

I have read a bit of James Herriot and seen a bit of the TV show and can attest that they are basically 100% the same, both the coziest things ever to be created. It will be an excellent bedtime story when the time is ripe.
