I never read Stellaluna, but having read the summary, I now suspect that a bat researcher read it, rolled her eyes at the mischaracterizations of bat behaviors (raised in a bird's nest, forsooth!), and wrote Little Lost Bat in response.
I've been trying to figure out what bothers me so much about the art style in Pinkalicious. I've enjoyed books with far more minimalist styles, so it seems weird to complain that it's too boring, but the word I keep coming back to is "flat." It's like everything in the picture has the same level of detail, so there's no sense of depth.
